Ice is prettier than snow – a Kent Photographer’s perspective

I never thought I’d say this after last week’s snow, which we all assume creates the most beautiful scenery ever, but yesterday as I was standing in the School playground waiting for the kids to go in, the other mums and I commented on how beautiful the trees that make up Cliffe Woods were all covered in ice. Later that day I trundled back with my camera in tow and took the following shots. I do actually think they look prettier covered in ice than they did in the snow….

 

 

I also saw this absolutely gorgeous little boy, waiting to go to his cousins Christmas Play and couldn’t resist….

The last modelling party

Portrait and Wedding Photographer Kent

Last Saturday saw my last ever modelling party with a gorgeous set of girls in Swanley. While I started these some years back the number of family portrait requests and of course weddings has meant that I now need to turn my concentration to other areas of photography in Medway and Kent. The party was conducted at the home of the birthday girl and all of the girls received a disk of approximately 90 portrait images to take home to their parents. I always aim to make any portrait photography session I do, whether in the form of parties, makeover sessions or family portraits taken in your own home, the best possible experience ever. Fun is always the theme of the day (with or without hats and feather boas) and flashing a bit of coloured light in to the background gives the girls a real party feel.

For the protection of the girls involved I never put modelling party images up on line but I am really glad to say that my last photographic modelling party experience was a great one and I hope that I get to meet the girls in some form or another over the next 10 years, whether it be as their kent wedding photographer or if their parents decide to book a family portrait session and let me in to their homes once more.

Rather than shooting wedding photography in Kent last Saturday,  I got together with my husband, 3 daughters and 3 equally mad friends and decided to dress up like Santa and run a mile around Rochester instead. What a great afternoon it was. We finished up in the pub and while I bumped in to several other professional photographers who were working, I was delighted to have the day off. Gemma and Ciara made it on to the front page of the Kent Messenger for Medway too.

Sunday saw me take on my first ever 10K Run around Leeds Castle in aid of Cancer Research and my very good friend Em who is battling lung cancer. I knew it would be a challenging course but with a lot of encouragement from Em and Mark in training, some fantastic ladies who I’d never seen before around the 9 1/2K mark (as that last major hill loomed), my iPod on my arm filled with 80′s Floor fillers, my family waiting at the finish line and a picnic bag full of chocolates and champagne, I managed to cross the finish line with gusto. This sad little Kent Wedding Photographer did good.

As some of you may already know Gee (my husband) took me on a much awaited trip to Venice – a city I’d always wanted to see. We spent 3 days in the beautiful city, most of it lost, drunk or a combination of both and I decided to try my hand at landscape photography. I take my hat off to my friend Dave Lee who is far more accomplished in this field but here are my attempts anyway.
