Rebecca & Graham – St Thomas’ Catholic Church & The Barn Yard, Upchurch

Wedding Photographer Medway, Kent

Saturday 3rd of September saw me off to a very sunny Rainham (Kent) for the wedding of Rebecca and Graham. We met at a wedding fair held at The Barn Yard a few months previously and hit it off straight away. Rebecca is a very smiley, bubbly person and therefore very, very easy to photograph…and Graham isn’t bad either.

The thing I was most excited about with their wedding however was the beautiful green fairy lights that come on in the courtyard after dark at The Barn Yard. I have not had the opportunity to photograph them before and Rebecca and Graham kindly agreed to give me 15 minutes of their time after the first dance to take wedding photography like no other.

I love the lights and would like to thank them both for that extra little bit of time – what a beautiful way to end your album.

Here are some of my favourite images from the day.

Kemi & Ben – Aylesford Church & Ditton Community Centre

Wedding Photography Medway Kent

Kemi & Ben were married at Aylesford Church on Saturday 6th August with a lots of friends and family and the friendliest, laid back Vicar I’ve ever met. Not only did he calm the bride, groom and congregation when a family ‘incident’ meant that the ceremony started 45 minutes late, but he even turned the lights back on to let me take ‘just one more  photo’ because I had seen a  beautiful picture window that I wanted to use.

In addition to the stunning Kemi (Ben you didn’t look bad either) was their very handsome son Kensi who posed for the camera like no other 2 year old ever has. Again the weather was very changeable but I always use that to my advantage, helped by the fact that I love an umbrella shot or two.

Emma & Bob – A beautiful wedding at The Knowle, Higham

Kent Wedding Photographer

Emma & Bob were married at The Knowle Country House Restaurant in Higham yesterday in the most perfect weather I have seen all year. The gazebo is normally fantastic at this time of year but I can honestly say that the whole gardens were absolutely flourishing with beautiful flowers of all shapes and colours and the introduction of chair covers and sculpted trees really gave the ceremony venue that extra special look.

That said, the flowers, the weather and the venue couldn’t hold a candle to Emma or her daughter Rosie. Both girls were absolutely stunning, with a timeless elegance fit for a princess and the mad laughter of women not long returned from what seems to have been a fantastic hen weekend. It was also a testiment to Emma that she even managed to turn her Matron of Honour, Rachel Clarke in to a respectable looking woman for the day and Rachel I must say that I am impressed little sister that you managed to behave yourself relatively well too.

I took far too many photos because everyone was having so much fun but among my favourites (below) are Emma, Rosie and Bob with his Dad Jack. I have only just begun the editing process but couldn’t wait to share just a few photos with you. I hope when the rest are available for viewing that you enjoy looking at them as much as I did taking them.

Vanessa & Trevor – A Civil Cermony at The Guildhall Museum, Rochester

Wedding Photographer Medway

Vanessa & Trevor were married last Saturday at The Guildhall Museum in Rochester (Kent). I love Rochester weddings, not only because the Guildhall is such a beautiful venue but because of all of the fabulous architecture in and around the High Street. It’s so much fun, even on a small Civil Ceremony, getting to play in our surroundings, even if it’s only for 20 minutes. I believe that even those couples on a tight budget deserve the best wedding photography and although the package was small I really do think we got some wonderful photos. I should point out that Vanessa was 7 months pregnant, and the beautiful little girl in the photos below is their daughter.

Michelle & Tony – A Small Wedding at The Knowle, Higham

Kent Wedding Photographer

Friday afternoon saw the wedding of Michelle & Tony at The Knowle Country House Restaurant in Higham. Having been together quite a number of years they only booked the smallest Civil Ceremony photography package but this post shows how much can be achieved in a very short space of time if you still want beautiful photos but don’t necessarily want an album package. The wedding photography is far more intense but the results speak for themselves.

Thank you Michelle & Tony, I know you weren’t huge fans of having your photos taken and you did work hard. I hope you like the photos as much as I do.

Vicky & Gary – Howfield Manor

Wedding Photographers Kent

Vicky & Gary got married on the 26th of March at Howfield Manor just outside Canterbury. It had been a beautiful week with blue skies and daffodils blooming but unfortunately Saturday saw cloud and rain for their wedding day. That HOWEVER was not going to dampen the spirits of the Policemen, Firemen and guests in attendance at this wedding and a thoroughly good time was had by all.

They were an absolutely fabulous bunch, full of cheek and laughter and for the first time ever I am having to send the Bride and Groom a disk of their wedding images and only put about half of the photos up on their gallery as there are too many fabulous ones to choose from. That said, when I started editing the photos I noticed a theme running through the images – see if you can spot it in the photos below………oh yeah and guys, thanks for the drink and the boogie afterwards. I really did have a great time.

Mandie & Steve – Rowhill Grange, Swanley

Wedding Photography Kent

The wedding of Mandie and Steve (see post below) was an amazingly emotional one. They had brought the wedding forward by a year so that Steve’s Mum could enjoy the day and then a few days before the wedding she passed away suddenly.  With this in mind there were two things that struck me about their wedding at Rowhill Grange – how much they loved their family and friends and how despite this family tragedy they were still all determined to enjoy the day and have fun.

The minute’s silence they held was extremely touching as was the ‘rememberance table’ but I will remember most the dancing, laughter and cheesiness (is that a real word) of their wedding. It was a fabulous start to the 2011 wedding photography season and as my trusty assistant said, the best one we’ve done this year (so far!).

The Silly Waiter – a Kent Wedding Photographers Delight

Wedding Photographer Medway Kent

I met Mark Howard a.k.a. The Silly Waiter at the wedding of Steve and Mandie Davis on Sunday 2nd January, which took place in the Clockhouse Suite of Rowhill Grange in Swanley, Kent. During our pre-wedding chat Mandie  let me in on their little secret and tried to describe Mark’s antics throughout the drinks and sit down meal but nothing prepared me for the comedy to come. Now I am partial to a bit of comedy myself, I love little more than to laugh but Mark was so absolutely, incredibly fantastic that I felt he deserved a blog entry all of his own. Steve’s family had suffered an unexpected loss only days before the wedding and while emotions ran high at several points during the day Mark had the ability to have them laughing within minutes. I looked through all of my photos of The Silly Waiter and only chose 3 to put up. You should know however that this isn’t because I only got a few photos of his hilarious antics, I got too many to count, but I didn’t want to spoil Mark’s act for those of you considering some light entertainment at your wedding receptions. I have seen magicians, characture artists and lots of other entertainers at weddings but in my very humble opinion none of them engaged the guests as much as Mark did, or made us all laugh so hard that even my cheeks were aching from smiling so much by the time I left (after the first dance) and I was supposed to be working! Mark you are a first class entertainer, Mandie & Steve thank you so much for booking him and for letting me be part of your wedding (there will be a separate blog posting on you to come!). I haven’t laughed that much in ages.

For more information The Silly Waiter website is www.sillywaiter.com. Check him out, he really is worth a look.

Kent Wedding Photography – the wedding of Sarahjane & Patrick

Kent wedding photographer

The wedding  of Sarahjane and Patrick took place in The Guildhall Museum in Rochester, Kent. We started and ended their Kent Wedding Photography at the Bridgewood Manor Hotel with the bridal preparations and continued on until the first dance. It may be politically incorrect to say but Sarahjane outshone any  of the other brides we saw that day and with 2 other receptions being held at the Bridgewood and bumping in to another couple in Rochester High Street, we saw a fair few. She was smiley, friendly and graceful – a photographers dream, and Pat wasn’t bad either ; )

On a serious note, photographing their wedding was a joy and delight. Jerry Ghionis plays a game with his couples where he asks them to smile and kiss at the same time but Sarahjane and Patrick did this naturally ALL day. I can’t remember when I’ve seen a couple this happy, and their family and friends were just as enthusiastic. I have had a terrible job choosing which wedding photographs to show after individually editing each one in record time,  but have decided to include the ones below.

Another lovely thing that happened as part of this wedding was the approach of two other local photographers who actually knew who I was without ever being introduced. Rebecca May was very enthusiastic about my work which is a huge compliment from fellow, talented photographers and I should take this opportunity to thank Rebecca for not only for the compliment but for recommending me to potential clients also.

Anyway, here are this week’s choices……

One for the boys – the wedding of Nicky & Simon

Medway/Kent Wedding Photographer

On Sunday I had the priviledge to second shoot for Andy James of Photo 3 at the wedding of Nicky & Simon Coulsdon. Normally you’ll hear me talk about how I like to make all of my brides look the best they can and if it means me tweaking their stance a little to get the best out of them then so be it, that’s just the way I work, however Sunday for me was definately a boys day.

I went to meet Simon and the boys at the Vic & Bull Hotel in Rochester, before going on to pick up the rest of the party at Flaming Henry’s in Maidstone. I had only been there 15 minutes before getting my nickname for the day (from the incorrigible Richie) and they continued to have fun with me for the rest of the day. They were cheeky & fun, their girlfriends gorgeous and by 4pm there were a number of them singing Bohemian Rhapsody and show tunes around the piano, something you wouldn’t have expected until about 11pm and a lot more beer. More importantly though they were extremely helpful and great at rounding up the sometimes straying guests.

The ceremony took place at Archbishop’s Palace, Maidstone and the reception at the Chilston Park Hotel and while I had a fabulous day with the girls too (I have included some photos of them here) I dedicate this blog post to the groom and his boys. Thanks Guys for a fun working day out.
